The GROW project aims to create inclusive, climate-resilient, and lasting decent work for marginalized communities in Sri Lanka’s northern province. The project builds on over a decade of ILO engagement in post-conflict recovery in the North, following the successful LEED, EGLR, LEED+, and PAVE projects under the jobs for peace and resilience (JPR) programme.
Overall objective of the project
To ensure that marginalized communities in Sri Lanka’s Northern Province, including women, men, and persons with disabilities have access to inclusive, climate-resilient, and sustainable decent work that improves their economic and social well-being.
Key Outcomes
- Lasting economic empowerment: Strengthening access to decent livelihoods by consolidating and expanding promising agriculture and aquaculture value chains, supporting micro small and medium enterprises, promoting digital tools, and improving food security.
- Social empowerment: Addressing harmful social norms, promoting inclusion, and enhancing capacities of vulnerable groups to participate in economic activities.
- Climate resilience: Supporting adaptation to climate change within livelihoods and promoting sustainable practices across value chains.
