Ensuring integration of occupational safety and health within the GFC Implementation Programmes

The project strengthens occupational safety and health (OSH) in the sound management of chemicals and waste under the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC). At the global level, it supports the meaningful participation of world of work actors in the first International Conference of the Global Framework on Chemicals (GFC-IC1), taking place in Geneva in November 2026. The Conference brings together governments and stakeholders to track progress and strengthen implementation of the GFC, which provides a global framework for preventing and minimizing harm from chemicals and waste.

In Pakistan, the project documents and shares good practices on chemical safety in the textile and construction sectors, while in Nepal it builds on the ILO’s Safety + Health for All Plantation Workers project to strengthen chemical safety and protect agricultural workers. Funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN), the project is implemented under the ILO’s Safety + Health for All Flagship Programme.
