Elimination of Child Labour in the Soccer Ball Industry in Sialkot, Pakistan

The project started in October 1997 and its 1st phase came to an end in October 1999. This is an evaluation report of Phase I of the project.

The project for ‘the elimination of child labour in the soccer ball industry in Sialkot, Pakistan’ was executed by ILO and funded by the US Government’s Department of Labour (755.744 US$) and by the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce (195.744 US$). Its immediate objectives were to prevent and progressively eliminate child labour from soccer ball stitching, to provide social protection to those affected by the monitoring, and to strengthen the Pakistani government and NGOs to prevent child labour.
