Ms. Noortje Denkers

Ms. Noortje Denkers is a Dutch national, and sociologist. Ms. Denkers worked as an ILO Technical Officer on child and forced labour for Latin America and the Caribbean between 2008 and 2021. Before joining the ILO Caribbean Office she served as a Labour Migration Specialist at the ILO Office for Central America, Haiti, Panama, and the Dominican Republic in Costa Rica.

Ms. Denkers holds a Master's degree in sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science, Great Britain and a BA in sociology and Italian from the University of Cardiff, Great Britain, and the University of Parma, Italy. In 2024, she finalized a Master's degree in Forced Migration and Refugees from the University of London.

Prior to joining the ILO, Ms. Denkers worked as an independent consultant with several NGOs, academic institutions, UN agencies (ILO, IOM, UNICEF), World Bank and USDOL in Latin America, Africa and Europe. She is fluent in Spanish and English and has working knowledge of French and Italian, while her mother tongue is Dutch.

Ms. Denkers brings her keen interest and passion to meet and exchange with people from different cultures, origins and interests to the Caribbean. Throughout her career her priority has been to achieve positive change in the lives of people with social justice as main pillar. She also contributes with her vast experience in a variety of key issues for the region such as child labour, forced labour, and labour migration.
