Workshop on Developing Programme/Activities based on the Strategies of the 3rd National Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan

The ILO/Japan Promotion of a safe and healthy working environment as Fundamental Principle and Right at Work through application of Fundamental conventions in Cambodia and Thailand Project in collaboration with the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour of Thailand host a workshop to share experience and lesson learned on developing National OSH Master Plan and OSH initiatives targeting those workers.

The Ministry of Labour of Thailand, by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, has issued the 2nd Master Plans on Occupational Safety, Health and Environment to provide directions for the development of OSH in Thailand during 2007-2021 and then the Master Plan was extended until 2022.

In order to continually undertake national OSH policy and plan, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare is scheduling to draft the 3rd Master Plan for 2023-2027. Which will be developed with emphases on inter-ministerial collaboration and integration of work plans with those of related ministries and supporting organizations. This is an important development that reflects the intention and commitment of the government to have a continuous and sustainable OSH policy and plan at national level. Such the national policy and plan are considered as key elements to support the ILO Convention No. 187 Re: Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health, 2006 that the country ratified in 2016.

The Department of Labour Protection and Welfare in collaboration and technical assistant with ILO/Japan Promotion of a safe and healthy working environment as Fundamental Principle and Right at Work through application of Fundamental conventions in Cambodia and Thailand Project, organized a workshop to share experience and lesson learned on developing National OSH Master Plan and OSH initiatives targeting those workers.

Objectives

  • To share experience and lesson learned on developing National OSH Master Plan.
  • To set out OSH initiatives based on Strategies of 3rd National OSH Master Plan.
  • To strength inter-ministerial collaboration and integration of OSH programme under the National OSH Master Plan.
The workshop participated by 60 representatives from related ministries, public organizations, employers and employees.
