Webinar series: Employment services and outward migration in Indonesia
The webinar series will provide detailed information about the legal framework and services available, specifically referring to the tasks and possible guidance that employment counsellors (pengantar kerja) may provide to outward migrants, including suggestions for referrals and mapping of relevant stakeholders.
Background
Within the framework of the project "Promoting the Global Development Initiative with a Focus on South-South Cooperation in Employment in ASEAN" (ProSSCE-ASEAN) supported by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China, the International Labour Organization (ILO) has supported the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia to enhance the capacity of the country’s employment counsellors via a four-tiered learning strategy since 2023.
In parallel to the above, the ILO has also supported the capacity of the Ministry of Manpower to manage the outward migration focusing on the working conditions of migrant workers and designing tools such as pre-departure trainings, grievance mechanisms and data collection, within the framework of the project “Ensuring Decent Work and Reducing Vulnerabilities for Women and Children in the Context of Labour Migration in South-East Asia.”
Combining the approaches undertaken by the two projects, exploring relevant synergies and contributing to the overall capacity building of the staff of the Ministry of Manpower, the ILO Office for the Indonesia and Timor Leste and the Ministry of Manpower (BINAPENTA Kemnaker) designed a webinar series focused on the provision of employment services to and for outward migrants.
