ILO Caribbean Resilience Project
Virtual Training on the Labour Market Contingency Plan (LMCP) and Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA)
The virtual training, is aimed at reinforcing the capacities of ILO constituents and key stakeholders on understanding and using ILO developed templates for preparing an integrated LMCP in each country; and understanding PDNAs and how to conduct them, with particular emphasis on the Employment, Livelihoods and Social Protection Sector (ELSP) component.
Among the major lessons learned from 2017 natural disasters in the Eastern Caribbean, is that the ILO constituents did not have the necessary tools to mainstream decent work in the national recovery process, nor to run, or actively participate in Post Disaster Needs Assessments (PDNAs). The opportunity to implement an employment and livelihood-centred recovery response in the aftermath of the widespread devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria was largely missed. The interventions from the ILO after the crisis demonstrated that there is an urgent need to support capacity strengthening and institutional reform if resilience goals are to be fully realized.
The virtual training, which is organized in the framework of the Caribbean Resilience Project, is aimed at reinforcing the capacities of ILO constituents and key stakeholders on:
- understanding and using ILO developed templates for preparing an integrated LMCP in each country; and
- understanding PDNAs and how to conduct them, with particular emphasis on the Employment, Livelihoods and Social Protection Sector (ELSP) component.
The training is addressed to ILO tripartite constituents and key stakeholders from Dominica, Guyana and Saint Lucia. The sessions are from 9:30 - 11:00 am each day. Participants nominated by their respective institutions will be required to register to receive the link to join.
