Training workshop on promotion of good workplace practices for small and medium-sized enterprises using ILO’s WISE training methodologies
Occupational safety and health standards optimize workers’ productivity, ensure safe workplaces, and cater to the development of organizations. The event is aimed at increasing awareness on OSH practices and also in addressing the challenges around it.
As part of the training on OSH using ILO’s ‘Work Improvement for Small Enterprises’ (WISE) training methodology, a site visit to a factory has been scheduled on March 1 for the participants. The objective of this training is to provide practical knowledge and skills to both employers and workers especially in the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) in the manufacturing sector on how to standardize and improve occupational safety and health.
This training will also contribute to the effective implementation of the OSH policy in India. WISE has been widely used by many countries as a practical risk assessment and management tool that helps employers and workers in improving OSH. WISE training use participatory approaches for practical, low-cost OSH solutions. The six basic training principles of WISE are built on local practice — focussing on achievements, linking working conditions with other management goals, using learning-by-doing approach, encouraging exchange of experiences and promoting workers’ involvement.
