Training for practitioners on child labour in the agriculture sector in northern Lebanon

Under the patronage of the Minister of Labour of Lebanon Sejaan Azzi, and in coordination with the Governor of Akkar Imad Labaki, the ILO in collaboration with the Akkar Network for Development is holding a 3-day training workshop for practitioners on child labour and the worst forms of child labour in the agriculture sector.

Within the framework of joint efforts between the Ministry of Labour and the ILO Regional Office for the Arab states on strengthening national strategies and programmes to combat child labour, this training complements activities undertaken in the Akkar region to reduce risks of child labour in agriculture.

The training workshop aims to enhance the knowledge and capacities of practitioners on the effects and risks of child labour, and on local and international legal frameworks and strategies to reduce this phenomenon in the agricultural sector. Additionally, it will serve as a platform for exchanging best practices in this field at the local and international level.

This event is a joint intervention within two projects implemented by ILO:

• Enabling job resilience and protecting decent work conditions in rural communities affected by Syrian refugees crisis in Northern Lebanon
• Tackling Child Labour among Syrian Refugees and their Host Communities in Jordan and Lebanon
