Training for Enterprises on Responsible Business and Decent Work
The ILO and the UNDP B+HR Academy in Indonesia are organizing the first joint Training for Enterprises on Responsible Business and Decent Work, targeting mainly the Japanese investment-linked electronic manufacturing sector and its global supply chain operating in Indonesia.
The Government of Japan supports the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to promote Responsible Business and Decent Work in Indonesia through their respective two projects. The two respective project covers “Responsible, Inclusive and Sustainable Supply Chain (RISSC) project and “Promoting responsible business practices in target countries where Japanese Companies operate, with particular focus on promoting human rights due diligence in global supply chains (B+HR Global).”
The overall objective of the ILO project is to build more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable global supply chains through expansion of decent work and responsible business conduct. Read more

Aims
The aim of the training is to improve understanding and capacity of private sector actors on responsible business practices and decent work throughout their supply chains in their operation, contributing to standard compliance, competitiveness and eventually Sustainable Development Goals.
Objectives
The objective of the join training is the following:
To share international guiding principles and instruments of business and human rights, responsible business, and the ILO MNE Guideline and Social Policy, including fundamental conventions, and due diligent with relevant stakeholders
To equip stakeholders of the private sector with the information and knowledge regarding responsible business practice, in the Japanese linked-investment electronics manufacturing companies, including Indonesian companies as supplier under the framework of global supply chain.
To support the private sector in sensitizing the concept of responsible business for further implementation at the enterprise level.
To create peer-learning opportunities for companies to discuss shared challenges and solutions in promoting and respecting human rights in their operation.
To enrich existing module considering the relevant stakeholders’ input and feedback.
About the Training
The training on Responsible Business and Decent Work is the first joint training organized by the ILO and the UNDP B+HR Academy targeting mainly for electronic manufacturing sector and its global supply chain operating in Indonesia.
This joint training includes human rights due diligence (HRDD) with its curriculum developed based on UNDP Human Rights Due Diligence Training Facilitation Guide and context assessments on responsible business practices of Indonesian and Japanese companies operating in Indonesia.
The guide covers modules that introduce the concept of responsible business, provide real-life case studies, and a practical guide for implementing the UNGPs, with emphasis on the process of human rights due diligence to identify, prevent, mitigate, and account for adverse human rights impacts.
The course will apply participatory and active engagement/learning approaches combining presentation/short lecture, case study, roleplay, and group works as well as Q&A sessions, in addition to online closed-door guidance sessions for selected individual companies.
Closed Door Online Guidance Session for Individual Companies The Training on Responsible Business and Decent Work also offers a one-on-one online guidance session for selected participating companies interested in conducting a human rights impact assessment. The guidance session aims to provide opportunities for selected companies to receive an initial confidential review of their readiness to undertake a human rights impact assessment and to further discuss best practices, lesson learnt and challenges in implementing responsible business conduct.
The Guidance Session is available for a selected three companies who have indicated strong interest and commitment to undertaking human rights impact assessment. The session would be conducted online via Zoom platform for a maximum 90-minute session for each selected company post the training. Schedule and details of the online closed-door guidance session will be shared in due course.
Certificate of Attendance
Upon successful participation in the training and satisfactory performance in taking the training assessment (i.e., pre and post-test survey), participants will be given a certificate of attendance.
Format of the Event
The event will be organized in person with active learning participation through group works, roleplay, case study and Q&A. Twenty (20) participants from respective 20 companies from the Japanese Global Supply Chain linked companies within electronics manufacturing industry, are expected to participating in the training.
Language
The training will be conducted in Bahasa Indonesia, except for a session on the day-2 that will be delivered in English with interpreting services.

Date and Duration
The training will be conducted for three days on Wednesday to Friday on 20-22 September 2023 from 09.00 to 17.00 (Central Indonesia Time) each day, except the last day of Friday that will be concluded by 12.00.

Participation Cost
The ILO and the UNDP B+HR Academy joint training is not a commercial event; ILO and UNDP do not charge for attendance. As such, companies attending the training are responsible for their own travel costs, including flight tickets and in-ground transportation. However, the organizer will cover the meeting package and accommodation during the training. For accommodation, the participants are expected to check in on 19 September 2023 and check out on 22 September 2023.
Background details (names of companies and participants, contact details) are anonymous, strictly confidential, and not disclosed in any form unless the participant(s) give consent.
Any other data collected during the training, if used in project publications, will be presented in a processed and anonymized form. No responses from individual companies will be revealed in publications, and no individual companies will be (directly or indirectly) identified when presenting findings.
Participating in the training means giving ILO/UNDP the consent to use participants’ data as explained above.
