Technical Mission Towards Effective Application of the Revised Seafarers’ Identity Documents Convention in the Philippines

The International Labour Organization (ILO) initiates technical assistance to the Philippine government through a technical mission on the revised Seafarers' Identity Documents Convention, 2003 (No. 185) to ensure its effective application.

The ILO initiates technical assistance to the Philippine government on the effective application of the revised Seafarers' Identity Documents Convention, 2003 (No. 185). A technical mission of an international consultant engaged by the ILO takes place from 10 to 16 February 2013.

The revised Seafarers' Identity Documents Convention, 2003 (No. 185), ratified by the Philippines in January 2012, seeks to ensure that a seafarer’s identity can be verified positively and minimize seafarer hardship as a result, through enhanced security combined with the necessary freedom of movement in the normal conduct of their profession.
