A meeting of the JMC’s Subcommittee on Wages of Seafarers was held in Geneva on 26-27 April 2011. The agenda consisted of a single item: The Seafarers’ Wages, Hours of Work and the Manning of Ships Recommendation, 1996 (No. 187): The updating of the basic wage of able seafarers.
The Subcommittee adopted a resolution which updates the ILO minimum basic wage for able seafarers from its present value of US$545 to US$555 on 1 January 2012, US$568 on 1 January 2013 and US$585 on 31 December 2013.
