Strengthened the capacity of the labour inspectors to enhance compliance mechanisms

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection (MFLSP) and ILO organized a two-day capacity-building training for all 115 labour inspectors from 21 provinces and nine districts of Ulaanbaatar.

Labour inspectors play a vital role in enforcing labour laws and regulations. By improving their capacity, we ensure that workplaces comply with national and international labour standards, protecting workers' rights and promoting fair labour practices. Skilled labour inspectors can better facilitate dialogue between employers, workers, and government agencies. This helps resolve disputes, improve labour relations, and foster a cooperative approach to workplace compliance.

Throughout the EU-funded "SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia" project, the ILO closely collaborated with the Ministry to enhance its labour inspectors' capacity and promoted the ratification of ILO Convention Nos 81 and 129.

The training aimed to enhance the skills of labour inspectors, train new inspectors, support the activities of state inspectors, establish an effective inspection system, conduct targeted inspections, and improve the performance of inspectors. This training also focused on sharing information about the latest changes and amendments to national laws and legislation, how to handle internal paperwork, and addressing court cases related to occupational accidents. Additionally, it provided an experience-sharing platform for labour inspectors to share their experiences and best practices with each other.
