Sensitization workshop on “Fair recruitment, labour inspection and private recruitment agencies- validation of understanding and way forward”

The workshop brought together 13 senior policy-making staff from various departments of the MoL concerned with private recruitment agencies, external employment, labour inspection, and external representation, creating a diverse and dynamic platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

This important workshop comes as a first step after the conclusion of a rapid assessment report that aimed to identify the prevailing situation in terms of labour migration, common recruitment abuses, and the capacity to address these challenges through the current labour inspectorate system. The workshop mainly aimed to validate collectively the results of the report and to endorse a proposed way forward in terms of operating procedures, plan of action, and training strategy for MoL personnel involved in licensing and monitoring private recruitment agencies. In parallel, the workshop ensured to further sensitize the participants on the concept of fair recruitment and the role of labour inspection in light of global developments and commitments. The 3-day workshop ended by the closing remarks that were delivered by Dr. Yasser Ghazy on behalf of Ms. Amal AbdelMawgoud, International relations Undersecretary, Ministry of Labour and Ms. Farah El Batrawi, THAMM National Coordinator, ILO.
