SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia

SDG Monitoring and Country Profile for Mongolia report dissemination event

The EU-funded "SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia" project has been collaborating with the National Statistics Office (NSO) to improve the quantitative data analysis essential for effective labour policy formulation.

With the technical support of the ILO, the NSO and the National Research and Consulting Center (NRCC) disseminated the result of the "Accelerating the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals through decent work: SDG monitoring and country profile for Mongolia report".

This report is the second national report that monitors and analyzes the progress made towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Mongolia. This collaboration between ILO and NSO in 2023-2024 was a significant milestone. Since the publication of the first report in 2019, the country has achieved progress in some areas but has yet to make much progress in some targets. Recent global events, such as the pandemic and international conflicts, have played a role in pulling back the country's progress towards the 2030 SDGs. Moreover, internal factors related to environmental and governance issues affect Mongolia's progress towards SDGs. This analysis highlights significant achievements in the 2030 SDGs through decent work and persistent challenges Mongolia faces.

A dissemination workshop was held to present the report results, attended by 84 representatives from ministries, agencies, international organizations, and researchers. The participants discussed the research findings and shared insights on future measures and opportunities in the field of decent work.
