The agricultural and livestock sector in Latin America and the Caribbean remains a key pillar for food security, rural employment, and sustainable development. However, in several countries, more than 80% of employment in this sector is informal, disproportionately affecting women, young people, and rural communities.

The ILO and FAO jointly present the report “Decent Work and Informality in the Agricultural Sector in Latin America, 2019–2023”, which offers an in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities to advance toward the formalization of rural employment in the region.

This launch event will serve as a space to share evidence, discuss policies, and strengthen inter-institutional cooperation, in line with the FORLAC 2.0 Strategy and the objectives of transforming agrifood systems.

The event will include interpretation in Spanish and English.
