ASEAN members adopted the recommendations that will be submitted to the ASEAN inter-sectoral consultation on social protection, in 8-9 December 2014, Siem Reap, Cambodia for inclusion in the future Plan of Action for the implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on Strengthening Social Protection.
About the seminar The seminar will provide a forum for ASEAN governments and social partners to discuss and agree upon common priority recommendations and concrete actions for the extension of social protection in ASEAN that would, more specifically, lead to the effective implementation of the ASEAN Declaration on Social Protection, adopted in October 2013 by the ASEAN Member States. The seminar will also offer a platform for promoting better coordination among partners involved in the implementation of social protection floors in ASEAN at both national and regional levels.
Participants to the seminar will involve technical partners and practitioners from Ministries of Labour and Social Welfare, representatives of workers’ and employers’ organizations directly involved in the advocacy and implementation of social protection measures from each of the ten ASEAN Member States, representatives of UN agencies, ASEAN Social Security Association, and experts working on social protection.
