Regional Exchanges of Good Practices in Nursing Education and Practice - India, Philippines, Viet Nam under DWAB Project
Under the EU funded Decent Work Across Borders Project, a Philippines-India-Viet Nam sharing session is planned, where representatives from the nursing education authorities of the three countries will share their respective strategies towards quality nursing education.
Between 12-18 May 2014, health related education stakeholders from Philippines and Viet Nam participated in India in a knowledge sharing training seminar. The objective of this training was to enhance the respective expertise of the education authorities of the three participation countries on their respective strategies toward quality nursing education. This provided not only a better understanding of the differences but also of the strengths and challenges of each country’s curriculum in view of the continuing improvement of each countries’ nursing education curriculum. More specifically, the initiative aimed to:
1) To share information on the participating countries respective education agencies, their mandates, policies and operating systems to ensure quality nursing education;
2) To share information on the nursing curriculum in India, Philippines and Vietnam, and share good practices, strengths and challenges between the nursing education authorities from the participating countries; and
3) To facilitate technical exchanges from government-to government experience of social dialogue in the context of the health human resources management.
The Philippine delegation comprised officials from CHED Technical Committee on Nursing Education (TCNE), Professional Regulatory Commission. Participants from Vietnam included two officials from the Ministry of Health official. Officials from the Indian Nursing Council joined the event in India with representatives from colleges of nursing, hospitals and other interest groups.
