Open Career Fair in Hospitality & Tourism 2023

With tourism accounting for a large share of Cambodia's GDP, this career fair serves as an important avenue to revive excitement in the sector and attract local talents to meet labour market demands. The event will take place over two days with a pre-career fair workshop planned on the first day followed by an open career fair on the second day.

The ILO and EHT organized a successful Career Fair - Hospitality & Tourism in 2022 to promote new employment opportunities for Cambodian youth and expand the talent pool of recruiters. Approximately 2,000 individuals, 65 per cent of whom are female and 87 per cent of whom are between the ages of 15 and 24, benefitted from this initiative. In addition, over 250 Cambodian youth participated in a pre-career workshop led by the EHT director and ILO representatives to prepare themselves for job applications. Following this event, 43.3 per cent of respondents found Tourism and Hospitality employment opportunities appealing and intended to apply, 8.4 per cent participated in an interview at the career fair, and 6.6 per cent were offered employment.

The success of this event has prompted the ILO and EHT to plan a larger scale career fair this year. This initiative aims to connect young jobseekers with prospective employers and promote decent working conditions for young employers and employees.

The Career Fair - Hospitality & Tourism 2023 has three main objectives:

• Promote employment opportunities in Hospitality & Tourism
• Enhance the knowledge of decent working conditions and rights and responsibilities at work among young employees and employers
• Strengthen the collaboration among government partners (job centres & TVET), private sectors, training providers, development partners, and United Nations agencies
