National Tripartite Workshop on Sound Management of Chemicals

The National Tripartite Workshop on Sound Management of Chemicals took place in Bandung, Indonesia on 15-16 July 2009 as a follow-up activity to implement the Recommendations adopted at the Meeting of Experts to Examine Instruments, Knowledge, Advocacy, Technical Cooperation and International Collaboration as Tools with a view to developing a Policy Framework for Hazardous Substances (Geneva, December 2007). The workshop has unanimously adopted the Bandung Recommendations. The recommendations identify five major areas of the activities: social dialogue; information and knowledge; preventative safety and health culture and occupational safety and health management systems; promoting occupational safety and health; and green jobs. The recommendations classify the overall activities on management of chemicals into long-term actions and immediate actions. Follow up activities will take place to implement the recommendations.
