National Launch Event of the Indonesia Decent Work Country Profile

The Launch Event of the Indonesia Decent Work Country Profile took place in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 23rd May 2012 and was co-organized by the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration (MoMT) and the ILO.

For the launch of the Indonesian Decent Work Country Profile, employers’ and workers’ representatives agreed on the credibility and authority of the data presented, and noted that the profile should be widely distributed among their members. The union representative raised several important issues concerning the decent work landscape that require both immediate policy attention and improvements to the knowledge base (i.e. data): outsourcing, wages and social security. It was an opportune time to start “sensitising” policymakers to the policy usage of the profile – and the decent work indicators – since early consultations for the next mid-term development plan will begin in 2013. Policy briefs are to be produced on a number of key themes, reflecting the priorities and concerns of constituents.
