National high-level workshop on Extension of Social Security Coverage in Vietnam
The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) of Viet Nam requested ILO’s technical support to develop the Master Plan on Social Insurance Reform (MPSIR). ILO has agreed with MOLISA to co-organize a high-level policy dialogue workshop on extension of social protection coverage, with the participants from senior leader of the Government, MOLISA, related national stakeholders, development partners, and research institute.
This event offers an opportunity for high-level dialogue with the government of Viet Nam to tackle the impediments of extending the social security coverage in Viet Nam, using international labour standards. It also an unique opportunity for ILO to share with the Government of Viet Nam the knowledge and experiences on how to make the right to social protection a reality for all.
The objectives of the workshop:
To provide an overview of policy gaps and shortcomings of the social security system in Viet Nam, including social insurance and social assistance provisions;
To facilitate national dialogues on reform options for improving the system, in line with international labour standards;
