National conference on women's employment rights-2024: A step towards decent work for women

The Confederation of Mongolian Trade Union (CMTU), with support from the EU-funded Trade for Decent Work project, held the national conference on "Women's employment rights - 2024." This important event aimed to promote fundamental principles and rights at work and promote the ratification of the ILO Convention No. 190.

Over 300 people attended, including representatives from the Government, trade unions, employers, social partners, international organizations, and academic institutions. The main theme was "Common issues at the workplace," with talks on achieving decent work for women, social factors affecting women's labour rights, the care economy, and stopping workplace violence and harassment.

Participants discussed key issues like gender discrimination, wage gaps, and lack of social security. These talks showed the need for strong efforts to ensure fair and safe working conditions for women.

CMTU created four short videos and six posters to promote the event and raise awareness about ending violence and harassment at work. The conference ended with a joint message to the government and employers, urging them to address these issues to achieve decent work for women and ratify the ILO Convention No. 190.

This conference is a big step towards creating a fairer and safer work environment for women in Mongolia.
