Maritime high-level tripartite dialogue
The House of Representatives in the Philippines through the House Committee on Overseas Workers Affair in collaboration with the ILO will hold a high-level dialogue between national and international maritime stakeholders on the crew change crisis, and the impact of COVID-19 on seafarers.
The House Committee on Overseas Workers Affairs of the House of Representatives in the Philippines, in collaboration with the ILO will hold high-level dialogue between national and international maritime stakeholders from the government, workers and employers organizations, seafarers, shipping and the maritime industry.
High-level maritime constituents from the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), International Transport Federation (ITF), the International Maritime Employers' Council (IMEC), and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) will join the dialogue as well. This is following the previous high-level tripartite meeting held on 17 July 2020.
The dialogue will cover coordinated strategies and solutions to the crew change crisis, including vaccination of seafarers in light of the evolving situations brought by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines, which remains complex.
The dialogue aims to gain better understanding the current challenges and identify measures that can be adopted in the near future. ILO experts from Geneva led by Ms Corinne Vargha, Director for International Labour Standards Department (NORMES), together with its head of Maritime Unit, and the Transport and Maritime Unit, Sectoral Policies Department will provide key insights.
