The Media-Friendly Glossary on Migration: Middle East Edition is a new tool to support journalists reporting on migration, forced labour and trafficking in persons in the Arab States region. The glossary is produced in English and Arabic, and available as a booklet and as a digital platform.
During the panel discussion, the ILO, the Ethical Journalism Network (EJN) and journalists from the region will discuss practical ways to ensure that terminology, imagery and framing of migration stories is ethical and in line with international human rights standards.
The Media-Friendly Glossary on Migration: Middle East Edition is part of a comprehensive initiative to promote fair migration (including fair recruitment), and contribute to the elimination of human trafficking for forced labour across the Arab States region, implemented by the Regional Fair Migration Project in the Middle East (FAIRWAY), with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
