Objectives
The Just Energy Transition Academy – Strengthening capacities for JET in coal regions in transition will enable participants to strengthen their knowledge and engage in peer-to-peer exchanges to develop tailored approaches and solutions to JET critical issues at national and subnational levels. It is expected that participants will enhance knowledge, build partnerships, and acquire hands-on approaches on how to tackle key issues in developing JET pathways.
The JET Academy will bring together stakeholders and practitioners from the global IKI-JET community and national, sub-national and sectoral levels. By the end of the Academy, participants will have reinforced theoretical skills and enhanced planning capacities to steer transformative and sustainable energy pathways in coal regions in transition.
The Academy focuses in particular on two core thematic pillars of a just transition in coal regions: economic diversification and social protection, exploring policy approaches, practical experiences and tools to support inclusive and sustainable regional transformation.
Target group
The training programme is designed for:
- National government representatives involved in the coal transition (Ministries ofLabour, Planning, Mining, Finance, Economic Development, Women’s Affairs)
- Local government representatives in coal mining regions
- Private sector representatives, including employers’ organizations, nationally andin coal mining regions
- Workers’ representatives nationally and in coal mining regions
- Civil society organizations and academia involved in the coal transition
- The programme particularly welcomes participants working in and around coal mining regions in Indonesia, India, Mongolia, South Africa, Thailand and Vietnam.
