In celebration of International Women’s Day 2024, the ISEC Project embarked on a comprehensive campaign in Cox’s Bazar to raise awareness and advocate for gender equality. This multifaceted initiative encompassed a series of events, activities, and training programs designed to empower women and promote their rights.
ISEC partners celebrated International Women’s Day (IWD) 2024 in Cox’s Bazar town with a day full of engaging events for the project staff. Almost 100 participants, over half of them women, joined in the events. The day began with a refreshing beach rally and a friendly game near the beach focusing on leadership. Later, speakers at a formal event at a local hotel presented the significance of IWD and encouraged women’s leadership. A panel discussion – featuring 7 inspiring women leaders from ISEC sharing their leadership journeys – captivated the audience. The workshop inspired and motivated attendees to motivate the communities to invest more in women at household, social, and workplace levels to accelerate socioeconomic progress.
The IWD celebration was not limited to only 8 March events, rather different initiatives were taken throughout March. ISEC organized women’s day talks at field offices, delving into the historical context, contemporary relevance, and thematic focus of International Women’s Day. Discussions highlighted ISEC’s endeavors in women’s economic empowerment, particularly its initiatives targeting vulnerable women. The project also developed a thematic write-up on IWD, providing a comprehensive overview of the day’s significance and its implications for gender equality and women’s rights.
Additionally, a photography and vlog contest was launched among ISEC staff for host communities, encouraging them to capture and share stories of women’s involvement in non-traditional trades and men’s and women’s active participation in household chores. ISEC staff actively participated in rallies and discussions organized by the local government, celebrating accomplished women from diverse fields and highlighting the project’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for women in Cox’s Bazar.
Through these initiatives, ISEC seeks to catalyze positive change on a global scale by spotlighting women’s achievements, addressing violence prevention, and emphasizing the importance of investing in women’s advancement and equality.
