In order to recognize the role of Columbia University in the reframing of the ILO in the post-war, the ILO Office for the United States in collaboration with Columbia University will convene a conference to discuss the impact of the gig economy on shaping today’s workplace, as it relates to the protection and rights of independent workers, outside the auspices of the ordinary workforce. A robust dialogue will be facilitated by leading experts in economics and labor rights with speakers representing the interests and rights of workers in today’s changing workforce with an opening discussion by Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz, Economics Professor at Columbia University and Economics Noble Laureate.
