The ILO Programme to Promote ILO Convention No. 169 (PRO 169) will hold a celebration for this year’s International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples on Thursday 9 August from 13:00 to 14:30 in the ILO Library (R2 South). This year, the World Day will focus on “Indigenous media, empowering indigenous voices”.

The event will consist of a brown bag lunch discussion led by Mr. Albert Barume, Senior Specialist on Indigenous and Tribal peoples’ Issues, who will share ILO work and good practices in the promotion of indigenous people’s rights.

The short film “Voice from the Roots”, produced by the PRO 169 national country programme in Bangladesh, will be screened prior to the discussion and a photographic exhibition entitled “Voices from the Andes” will be showcased, also in the Library, during the week leading up to the event (6 to 10 August).
