Institutionalizing the training system for labour inspectors

Institutionalizing the training system for labour inspectors is essential for creating a sustainable and effective labour inspection framework. The ILO’s EU-funded "SDG-Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia" project provided technical support to two professors from the National Academy of Governance (NAOG) to attend ITCILO Training of Trainers on building modern and effective labour inspection systems from 26 August to 6 September 2024.

This ITCILO course aimed to strengthen the national and institutional capacity for the development of the competencies of the labour inspectorates and raise the necessary skills of the labour inspectors. The National Academy of Governance (NAOG) in Mongolia is the primary institution responsible for training public servants. It plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of government officials through various educational and professional development programs.

Currently, the labour inspectors’ training system is not yet institutionalized in Mongolia. Therefore, the project provided technical support to the MFLSP and NAOG to organize a three-day ILO module training to promote the institutionalizing efforts of the labour inspectors' training system.

A three-day ToT course trained 30 labour inspectors using the ILO's new Curriculum on Building Modern and Effective Labour Inspection Systems . The training was led by Javier Barbero, ILO Senior Specialist on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and Labour Inspection and two professors from NAOG.

All 17 modules of the ILO's new Curriculum on Building Modern and Effective labour inspection systems were translated into Mongolian with the support of the project.

This was the first training course jointly organized by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection and the National Academy of Governance.
