The ILO Violence and Harassment Convention, 2019 (No. 190): exchanges between practitioners and academia on preventing and ending violence and harassment in the world of work

Violence and harassment in the world of work is a widespread, persistent, and recurrent phenomenon, with more than one in five persons in employment having experienced it during their working life (ILO and LRF, 2022). To prevent and address this scourge, the International Labour Organization (ILO) adopted the Violence and Harassment Convention (No. 190) and its accompanying Recommendation (No. 206) in June 2019.

This joint IAWBH-ILO webinar aims at bringing together academics and practitioners to present and discuss ground-breaking and forward-looking research and frameworks on preventing and addressing violence and harassment in the world of work in the framework of the Convention 190. It will feature a presentation of the key findings from the ILO-Lloyd’s Register Foundation-Gallup report on Experiences of violence and harassment at work: a global first survey, followed by insightful interventions on the discrimination and OSH issues of C190. The discussion will be then broadened up from prevalence to costs of violence and harassment at work and how they can be measured within the framework of C190, followed by an engaging academic and practitioner discussion.

The webinar will take place in the wake of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and will be a unique moment for organizations and associations working against violence and harassment in the world of work to exchange and discuss ways forward to build a world of work free from violence and harassment.
