ILO Project engages over 1,000 participants at EU Day event to promote decent work

The EU-funded Trade for Decent Work project participated in the EU Day event to promote fundamental principles and rights at work (FPRW), international labour standards, and decent work.

The project team provided comprehensive information on decent work, reaching a diverse 1,000 audience. A highlight of the event was the decent work quiz, which saw enthusiastic participation from 500 individuals. This interactive quiz aimed to raise awareness about the importance of decent work conditions.

The results of the public quiz revealed a concerning trend: the majority of young people reported not having decent work conditions. Key issues identified included inadequate salaries, unsafe and unhealthy work environments, and instances of workplace harassment and violence.

In addition to the quiz, a drawing contest titled "My future career" was organized for children, encouraging them to envision their future professions and understand the significance of decent work from an early age.

These findings underscore the urgent need for action to improve the general public's understanding of rights at work, with a particular focus on youth. The EU-funded Trade for Decent Work project remains committed to advocating for fair and inclusive wage system, safe and healthy workplaces, and the elimination of workplace harassment and violence.
