ILO Caribbean Resilience Symposium

This 3-day virtual event is an opportunity for Caribbean governments, employers’ organizations, trade unions and other partners to deepen our discussions and commitments for action on the Decent Work and Just Transition principles and practices that are critical for the region’s progress towards becoming environmentally sustainable economies.

The Conference is also taking place in the context of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, as countries and territories pursue more innovative and comprehensive ways to prepare for, respond to and recover from the persistent threats of natural and other disasters. The ILO Recommendation No. 205 on Employment and Decent Work for Peace and Resilience and the ILO ‘Guidelines for a Just Transition towards Environmentally Sustainable Economies and Societies for All, have been the anchors for the ILO’s Caribbean Resilience Project and for the ILO’s 4-pillar policy framework for tackling the economic and social impacts of the global health crisis.

The symposium is designed to ensure that the knowledge developed by the ILO Caribbean Resilience Project is widely accessible to regional decision makers, social partners, technocrats, and development practitioners for practical policy change, advocacy and resource mobilization towards greater Caribbean resilience. In particular, sessions will explore the progress in the Region and priority issues emerging in practical applications of these important International Labour Standards.
