ILO in Bangladesh message for 16 days of gender activism

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is the international civil society led campaign that takes place each year from 25 November to 10 December. The United Nations Secretary-General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women initiative (UNiTE) calls for global action to increase awareness, galvanise advocacy efforts and share knowledge and innovations to end violence against women and girls (VAWG) once and for all. Launched in 2008, UNiTE is a multi-year advocacy effort aimed at preventing and eliminating VAWG around the world. UNiTE calls on governments, development actors, civil society, women’s organizations, young people, the private sector, the media and the entire UN system to join forces in addressing violence against women and girls. In 2023, the UNiTE campaign theme is Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women & Girls and will focus on the importance of financing different prevention strategies to stop violence from occurring in the first place.

In this effort, the ILO country office for Bangladesh has developed a video containing messages of the constituents including government, employers and workers; ILO gender focal of different interventions and the Country Director of ILO Country office for Bangladesh. Through this video, we urge everyone to come forward to invest in preventing and addressing violence and harassment - at home, at work- everywhere and build a world that does not tolerate violence against women and girls anywhere, in any form.
