ILO Asia and Pacific, Expanded Regional Management Team (ERMT) Meeting
The ILO’s regional management team and country directors from Asia Pacific attended strategic discussions on planning the organizations work in the region, in the context of the 2030 development agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals, resource mobilization, and key ILO initiatives.
ILO Country Directors from throughout Asia Pacific joined the Regional Director, Ms Tomoko Nishimoto, members of the regional management team and specialists. A small team from ILO headquarters was led by Deputy Director General, Management & Reform, Mr Greg Vines.
The topics on the agenda included:
• The 2030 development agenda and the SDGs, and implications for the ILO.
• The ILO’s 2016-17 Programme and Budget and 2018-21 Strategic Plan.
• Thematic discussion on environmental sustainability and jobs.
• Report from the ILO’s Evaluation unit.
• Implementation of the ILO’s development cooperation strategy,.
• Updates on the ILO’s country level work in South East Asia & the Pacific (Cambodia, China, Fiji, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Myanmar, PNG, Samoa, the Philippines, Viet Nam), and South Asia ( Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka)
• Briefing and discussion on major initiatives; including the 2016 Asia Pacific Regional Meeting, the ILO’s Future of Work initiative and donor reviews.
• Latest developments in communications and knowledge management.
• Feedback fromparticipants in the recent Executive Leadership & Management training.
