The growing demand for domestic workers in Lebanon is yet to be met with the honoring of domestic workers’ rights through laws and operational modalities. In January 2015, the Domestic Workers Union was announced in Lebanon – the first of its kind in the region. The ILO was instrumental in establishing the union, and is committed to support it to gain credibility and increase outreach in a way that reflects the empowered voice of the domestic workers.
A one-day workshop will be held with members of the union, including the Executive Board. The purpose of the workshop is to:
share good practices and lessons learned;
agree on a shared vision and objective, and formulate a results chain framework to achieve the objective; and
determine the tools and human resources required.
As a result of the workshop a detailed two-year work plan will be produced.
