Green tourism MSMEs: Accelerating Indonesia's sustainable tourism transition for net zero

This forum will focus on accelerating the integration of sustainability principles within Indonesian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the tourism sector.

Background

This policy dialogue emerges from the recognition that accelerating green tourism MSME development requires coordinated action across government agencies, development partners, financial institutions, and the private sector. By bringing together key stakeholders, this dialogue aims to forge consensus on strategic priorities, identify concrete pathways for implementation, and establish mechanisms for sustained collaboration that can unlock the transformative potential of green tourism MSMEs in Indonesia's sustainable development journey.

Objectives

This policy dialogue convenes government officials, employers, workers' organizations, civil society organizations, private sectors, tourism businesses and MSMEs to:

  • Align green tourism MSME development strategies with Indonesia's Economic Transformation framework.
  • Identify innovative financing mechanisms, skill development, and relevant infrastructures to support green tourism MSME.
  • Showcase capacity development programs supporting green tourism MSMEs in Indonesia and promote collaboration for bigger impact in 2025 and beyond.
  • Promote certification modules and schemes for sustainable tourism practices.
  • Create knowledge-sharing platforms and peer learning networks to facilitate best practice exchange among green tourism MSMEs

Format

This event will build on the in-depth exploration of through expert-led presentations, interactive panel discussions, and Q&A. A networking segment during break and lunch will serve to facilitate meaningful connections and knowledge sharing.
