G7 Green jobs and skills: Increasing international cooperation and investment for just transitions
The panel discussion will involve leaders from G7 countries, partners countries and social partners to discuss progress on just transition and the importance of green jobs and skills strategies for achieving the SDGs.
A Work Programme on Just Transition Pathways will be discussed for adoption by UNFCCC parties at COP28 in UAE this year. The Work Programme will focus on just transition pathways in the context of: (1) economic sectors including energy, industry and construction, agriculture, land use and forestry, and waste; (2) how to create decent work and quality jobs; and (3) the importance of education and the challenges of skilling, re-skilling, upskilling, reschooling and retooling.
Under this backdrop, the panel will involve leaders from G7 countries, partners countries and social partners to discuss progress on just transition and the importance of green jobs and skills strategies for achieving the SDGs. It will address how their countries are investing in a low carbon economy to alleviate inequality and promote climate adaptation and mitigation.
