ISEC programme of ILO conducted a discussion on “Harmonizing the Skills Development System for Refugee Communities in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh” organised by the Livelihoods and Skills Sector (LSDS) in Cox’s Bazar on 4th September 2023. Around 40 representatives from several local and international organizations who are implementing skills trainings programmes both for Rohingya refugee and host communities attended the technical session. The session was conducted by Ms Christine Hofmann, Senior Skills Specialist, ILO Geneva, ILO. The Livelihood and Skills Development Sector (LSDS) group supported and endorsed this approach. Ms Hofmann also presented ILO’s international experiences on promoting coherent and quality skills interventions in fragile contexts and their relevance and adaptability for Cox’s Bazaar. The ISEC skills team has also provided technical assistance and advice to UNHCR by developing and presenting the skills assessment and certification strategy for the Rohingya refugees as part of the programme.
