First ILO-CEPR-IGC-UNIGE Conference on Labour Markets in Developing Countries
The 2019 CEPR/IGC/ILO/UNIGE Conference on Labour Markets in Developing Countries will be held in Geneva on 9-10 May 2019 at the headquarters of the ILO. The Conference is jointly organised by CEPR, IGC, ILO and the Institute of Economics and Econometrics at the GSEM-University of Geneva.
The goal of the conference is to provide a forum for high-quality work in labour and development economics. In addition, the conference will provide a platform for researchers and policy makers to exchange knowledge and to engage in policy discussions. The conference will bring together around 40 economists for a period of two days. To foster the desired interaction, we ask that participants stay for the entire duration of the symposium. The programme will start on Thursday morning (9th) and end on Friday afternoon (10th).
The Conference will count with the presentation of 9 papers from experts around the world. Moreover, it will feature two keynote talks by Michael Greenstone (University of Chicago and CEPR) and Robert M. Townsend (MIT and CEPR). Finally, a policy panel will close the event, with the participation of Pamhidzai H. Bamu Chipunza (Africa Coordinator, Law Programme at WIEGO) and Michelle Leighton (Chief of the Migrant Branch at ILO).
Registration and attendance: Non-ILO attendees are kindly asked to inform the organisers of their participation by sending an email to Sarah Jane Alvarez ([email protected]). This is necessary as the ILO premises are secured and entrance to the building is subject to prior authorisation.
