Developing a handbook on Decent Work indicators

The National Statistics Office (NSO) is developing a Handbook on Decent work indicators with a focus on SDGs as part of the ILO’s EU-funded "SDG - Aligned Budgeting to Transform Employment in Mongolia" project.

This handbook is being developed based on the ILO’s Decent Work Indicators guideline, translated and adapted to the country context.

The handbook covers ten substantive elements corresponding to the four strategic pillars of the Decent Work Agenda: full and productive employment, rights at work, social protection, and the promotion of social dialogue. These elements include employment opportunities, adequate earnings and productive work, decent working time, combining work, family and personal life, work that should be abolished, stability and security of work, equal opportunity and treatment in employment, a safe work environment, social security, and social dialogue, employers’ and workers’ representation. The handbook provides detailed information on the purpose, definitions, methodologies, explanations of results, and breakdowns of data sources for each indicator.

The project has seen active participation from various stakeholders. Representatives from ministries, agencies, international organizations, and researchers have been involved in the development and review process.
