Building a More Effective Labour Inspection System
The seminar is to discuss how to strengthen the labour inspection system through improving collaboration with the labour disputes resolution mechanism and trade unions.
In China, labour inspectors have collaboration mechanims with labour disputes resolution system and with trade unions. The importance of such collaboration is further accentuated today as labour inspectors face growing workload as a result of more complicated employment relations, expanding workforce and a wide range of labour inspection tasks. Labour inspectors in China are seeking more effective mechanisms to collaborate with labour disputes mediation and arbitration committees and trade unions to make joint efforts in improving workplace compliance.
To improve workplace compliance through building more effective collaboration mechanisms, the ILO and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS) jointly organize a Seminar on Coordination Mechanism of Labour Inspection. The purpose of this seminar is to help sharing of best practices on how labour inspectors work with the other stakeholders such as labour disputes mediation and arbitration committees and trade unions and develop plans on how to promote these good practices in different localities in China. Around 50 participants from MOHRSS, workers' organizations, and labour inspectors and labour disputes mediators from 5 provinces and international specialists from ILO and Australia will attend this seminar.
