Awareness Raising & Capacity Building on Legal Framework and Decent Work
Way out of Informality: Facilitating Formalisation of Informal Economy in South Asia’ project has organized a two day long Training Workshop on Awareness Raising & Capacity Building for the stakeholders of the construction sector in Bangladesh. The aim of the workshop is to enhance capacity of the stakeholders on Legal Framework and Decent Work and will be held on 27 & 28 November, 2013 in Dhaka
The objective of the workshop is to inform and develop knowledge and building capacity of the stakeholders/target groups on the Government’s new policy and legal provisions to recognize and protect rights of informal workers highlighting the role of tripartite partners. The training will give emphasis on the legal provisions of the Labour Act, 2006 and its Amendment in 2013 and Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Act, 2006 and its Amendment in 2013 in relation to informal sector and workers. It will also focus on workers’ rights at work, promote gender equality and organizing informal workers of the construction sector comprised of young workers; minimum wages for the workers of the construction sector; introduction of ILO tools on Workplace improvement and Occupational Safety and Health; and introduction of Informal Apprenticeship methodology for skills development and formalization of informal skills (certification).
Participants of the workshop includes, mid-level officials of the Government of Bangladesh, representatives of Employers’ organizations, Factory and Establishment Inspectors, Trade Union Leaders, Sub-contractors, Supervisors and Project Managers/Engineers from Construction Companies.
