Arab States employment agencies receive enhanced technical training

Public and private employment services agencies from across the Arab States are to receive technical training from the ILO in order to enhance their capacity to recruit and place job seekers in their respective countries. The course is primarily addressed at directors and employment officers from public employment services as well as private recruitment agencies in Lebanon, Jordan, the occupied Palestinian Territory, Oman, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Participative methods including discussions, group exercises and case studies will be used and will alternate with subject matter presentations by international experts. The course’s main elements are to build participating agencies’ capacity to:

• Promote of an inclusive workplace;
• improve labour market information systems;
• enhance supervision of, and coordination with, private recruitment agencies;
• exchange different practices in the region;
• introduce the characteristics of successful web based employment service platforms; and
• bolster monitoring and evaluation of Active Labour Market Programmes.
