For enhancing livelihood opportunities for the host communities of Cox's Bazar, a significant aspect of the ISEC programme revolves around empowering women, youth, ethnic and religious minorities, and people with disabilities. This initiative focuses on strengthening the skills development system and the market system, fostering collaboration among various stakeholders for market-driven skills development. Recently, under the umbrella of ILO, a validation workshop was conducted to assess two crucial agro-food value chains: seaweed and salt.
Objectives
The Validation Workshop aimed to present key findings from the assessments of the seaweed and sea salt value chains. It sought to engage stakeholders in reviewing these findings, gathering insights, and identifying key opportunities for vulnerable target groups within the selected value chains. The workshop aimed to finalize the value chain assessment study with valuable inputs from key stakeholders.
Workshop outcomes
The workshop successfully generated insights and recommendations from key stakeholders, providing a comprehensive understanding of the seaweed and sea salt value chains. These recommendations, actionable and prioritized, are instrumental in shaping the future engagement priorities of the project. The collaborative effort of government representatives, trade association representatives, workers' organizations, key government ministries, implementation agencies, and UN agencies representatives contributed to the success of the workshop.
