Just Transition Finance Hub
The financial sector plays a crucial role in enabling the transition to a net-zero economy and has a major influence on both climate-related and social outcomes. This influence goes far beyond the sector’s own business practices and operational footprint and stems largely from the activities it facilitates by providing capital and financial services in a broader sense.
The sector has powerful levers – from investment strategies, lending practices and insurance products to sustainability management and corporate engagement – to shape a just and sustainable future as a part of its core operations and sustainability strategies.
As part of our mission to translate the ILO Just Transition Guidelines into action, we leverage the ILO’s expertise and mandate to engage with the financial sector and shape inclusive sustainable finance practices.
We achieve this by:
- Convening key stakeholders.
- Integrating perspectives from the world of work.
- Supporting financial service providers in in designing, testing, and refining just transition-aligned strategies and approaches.
To further strengthen these efforts, we generate and share practical knowledge and guidance, ensuring that financial institutions have the tools they need to drive meaningful change.
