The main objective of the ILO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Lima, Peru, is to promote decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equality, security and human dignity. Its four strategic lines of action are to:

  • Promote labour rights
  • Expand access to decent jobs
  • Improve social protection
  • Promote tripartite social dialogue (governments, employers and workers).

To achieve these objectives, the Regional Office coordinates and oversees ILO operations in the region, providing technical support, managing resources, establishing partnerships, and monitoring program implementation. It also works closely with governments and employers' and workers' organizations to define regional labour priorities.
