ILO and the UN Peacebuilding Fund

The ILO partners with the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (UN-PBF) to advance peace through decent work and social justice. UN-PBF is the UN’s leading financing instrument for conflict prevention and peacebuilding, administered by the Peace and Peacebuilding Support Office (UN-PBPSO) within the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (UN-DPPA).

Together, the ILO and UN-PBF support initiatives in fragile and conflict-affected settings that strengthen livelihoods, expand employment opportunities for women and young people, foster social dialogue, and build resilient labour markets.

By linking peacebuilding with decent job creation, including skills development and social protection, the partnership helps address some of the root causes of conflict, including poverty, exclusion and inequality. Carried out in collaboration with governments, workers’ and employers’ organizations, UN agencies and local partners, this work contributes to sustainable peace by promoting inclusive labour markets and economic recovery that leave no one behind.
