Following extensive consultations, the Governing Body decided on 27 March 2021 at its 341st Session that the 109th Session of the International Labour Conference would be held virtually in two separate parts:
- A first part, from 3 to 19 June 2021 to deal with all agenda items except items IV (inequalities and the world of work) and VI (skills and life-long learning), with the opening sitting being held on Thursday, 20 May 2021 to elect the Officers of the Conference, appoint its standing and technical committees and approve any adjustments to its Standing Orders and working methods, as may be necessary in view of the virtual format of the Conference;
- A second part, the dates of which will be determined at a later stage, to deal with items IV (inequalities and the world of work) and VI (skills and life-long learning).
The special procedures, programme and arrangements for the 109th Session of the Conference, including a detailed outline on the drafting process of the COVID-19 response and its adoption during the Conference, will be finalized in the course of April 2021 in consultation with tripartite constituents, and will be announced in this webpage and communicated to all Member States.
Member States are urged to start the consultation process with the most representative organizations of employers and workers in the country necessary for the determination of the composition of the country’s tripartite delegation to the 109th Session of the Conference, in particular regarding the agenda items scheduled for discussion during the first part of the Conference, namely items III, V and VII.
