World employment report 1998-99

"Everyone employed in forestry should have access to a copy of this code and use it to check that they are providing or being provided with everything needed for safe effective forest work. The code is a yardstick that will allow easy, objective inspection of work at all levels and so remove the excuse of ignorance. The small but very effective Industrial Activities Branch of the ILO is to be congratulated for arranging the 1997 meeting of experts from all over the world, out of which meeting this code was born and endorsed."
International Forestry Review, 1999

This book aims to protect workers from hazards in forestry work and to prevent or reduce the incidence of occupational illness or injury. It is intended to help countries and enterprises that have no forestry-specific regulations, but there are also useful ideas for those with well-developed prevention strategies. Several countries have already decided to use the code to revise their national regulations.
